Jeff “ActionJeff” Garza and Kush “Omnipotent” Patel Make Day Two
Day one, which lasted 13 hours, finally came to an end around 11:30 PM Saturday night. The tournament is down to 18 players, which means the average stack is around 30K. Jeff has 56K and Kush has 82K, which is 2nd in chips. There is still some time in the 600/1200/200 level, but it’s not a full level left. Also, unlike on Stars, the payouts go up slightly for each place.
Jeff’s stack varied quite a bit throughout the day. After the last blog, he had about 35K. He hung out around there for a bit, then had four more big hands during the day.
1. Captain Morgan raises to 2700, Jeff re-raises from the cut-off to 9200, BB goes all-in for 12,000, Captain Morgan thinks for a bit, then re-pushes, Jeff insta-folds QQ. Captain Morgan shows AA, BB shows TT. AA holds and Jeff takes a decent hit.
2. Captain Morgan raises from MP to 2700, Jeff called from the cut-off with A9s, everyone folds. Flop is QQ3 with no suit help, check check on the flop. Turn was 3, Captain Morgan checks again, Jeff makes a small bet, Captain Morgan folds after saying he thought it would be a chop.
3. Folds to Captain Morgan, he makes it 2100, SB shoved for 10K, Jeff moved all-in from the BB with TT to isolate, button insta-folds, SB shows AK. A on the turn takes a chunk out of Jeff’s stack.
4. On the bubble, Captain Morgan opens cut-off for 3800, button folds, Jeff calls in the SB with another 17K behind, BB folds. Flop is JT5 with two clubs, Jeff bet 4500, Captain Morgan pushes, Jeff calls and shows AA. Captain Morgan shows 75 and the AA holds. Jeff doubles through to 42K-ish.
He stole his way up to the high 50s.
Also, the poker superstar known as Kush “Omnipotent” Patel won a huge pot when there was an all-in, a call for half of a stack and he woke up with AA. Naturally, he moved in and the caller had to call for the rest of his stack. The first all-in had 66 and the caller had KQ. After winning this pot, Kush had about 40K, then he basically stole his way up to 82K to finish the day.
Once again, I managed to get some pictures ninja-style.
