Event #2 1500 NL

Well, the first open event of the WSOP held its final table Thursday at 2 PM PST and, already, someone that I know made a final table: Brent Roberts, also known as Astrolux85 on PokerStars.

He came in as the 9th stack, but he finished in 5th for $150K, which is a great score. He and his friend skeemer1 are both sleepers to look out for in upcoming prelim events.

Also, my friend Rizen, aka Eric Lynch, is the chip leader going into the final table of the Event #3 1500 PL. It starts Friday afternoon at 2 PM PST, so let’s hope he can take it down.

On a sidenote, I sold the W$ that Brent and Eric used to buyin to these events, so I’m 2/2 with final tables. I hope to keep this streak alive in the upcoming events. :-)

Words of Wisdom from iRockhoes on FTP

This is the same guy who’s “saugustine” on UB, a 50/100 NL regular on both sites.

iRockhoes: anyone ever see the chappelle show
iRockhoes: where he visits the internet
Ozzy 87: yes irock
iRockhoes: i think the rail in a physical form would be a bunch of retarded kids bumping into each other trying to jerk the guy with the most money at the moment off
Ozzy 87: lol

In NYC

I’m up in NYC for the weekend visiting some long-time friends. A buddy of mine who lives with his fiance in Jersey City took Friday off from work just to hang out, so we went into the city and saw a movie near Times Square, then met up with his fiance and another friend at a place called Pietrasanta on 47th and 9th. It’s a solid Italian restaurant.

On the way back from the city, we took a bus from the Port Authority Bus Terminal on like 42nd and 8th, or somewhere around there. It’s nice because it drops us off directly in front of my friend and his fiance’s house. And it’s like $3, as opposed to a $35 cab. But first we had to wait like 20 minutes+ for the bus to show up, then, because there were so many people there, it took over 10 minutes to fill the bus. The whole aisle was filled with people. Then they had to go through this ridiculous ritual of getting off, then back on, whenever we got to a stop to let off one random person from the back of the bus. I think it took over an hour from when we stepped out of the restaurant to when we walked in the door of the house. And it’s like 3 miles away. If we just took a cab, it would have been like $6 more per person, which seems easily worth it to me. I could understand if you just have one person because $3 -> $35 is a big jump to save what is normally like 20-30 minutes, but we were talking like $6 more per person. It’s an easy choice in my mind, but I guess I know better for next time.

Today we’re going to a BBQ somewhere in Jersey, then I think I’m going to a party of some kind at my sister’s apartment on the Upper West Side. Tomorrow a bunch of us are going to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ. I’m not looking forward to the lines, but it should be a fun time.
