Emory Law & thepokerdb update
Well, I’m still on about 3478238 waitlists for various good law schools. But I’m in at Emory Law, so I’m going to focus on that for right now. After all, it seems unlikely that I’ll get into my waitlist schools as most of these lists consist of hundreds of people looking to squeeze into only a few spots.
Therefore, I am going down to Atlanta on Monday the 19th to take a look around the school and the surroundings. I’ll also be trying to figure out where I want to live. Luckily, I have bona-fide online poker superstar foshio (thepokerdb/$300K Masters Win/P5s) reserved as a tour guide. He’s from the Atlanta area and he was a student at Emory before taking time off to play poker, so he should be a good resource down there. Also, he lives very close to the campus and I’m going to be thinking very seriously about living in the same set of apartments/condos. I also hope to meet up with B.Purdy, an old-time PSCrewer, and maybe yellowsub (thepokerdb/hendon mob/P5s) if he’s around. It’s only going to be a day trip, but I plan on getting a lot done.
In other news, Full Tilt Poker (no affiliate link on there) has been added to thepokerdb in beta form. As of this blog entry, you can only view the tournament list, seen here. The software that we use to collect the tournaments is very new and we’ve only been running it for about a week. We still have less than 1000 tournaments in the FTP db. But it is up, running and it will continue to grow. Once it builds up a bit, we’ll integrate player search.
Also, Paradise Poker (still no affiliate link, am I an idiot?) is going to be up next. We have the software to collect Paradise results and I look forward to the commencement of collection in the coming days.
In terms of UB, I’m probably going to give up for now. It’s just such horrible software and so difficult to collect consistently. The frustrating part is that we have software that works fairly well. We invested a lot of time and money into it and I hate failing. I’ve been trying to get it to work since December and it’s just a losing effort. On top of that, UB has clearly gone into the toilet. If they ever look like they’re going to re-emerge, I might get working on our partially complete source code and try to get it working.
That’s it for now. I’m working on a piece stating why I think the concept of tournament satellites is stupid, so that should be up soon.
