Back from the bike ride
Wow, that was hard. I got home about 30 minutes ago and I really can’t remember a time I’ve ever been this exhausted from exercise. My legs don’t want to function.
For those of you from the Philadelphia area (skip the following paragraph if you’re not familiar with the area):
We biked from the Main Line down to the Art Museum area (the start of the ride), then basically turned around and came right back out of the city, biking through the Penn Valley area out to Villanova. There were some ridiculous hills in that stretch. There was a rest stop at the Agnes Irwin school, which was about the halfway point of the ride. We then turned around and headed back towards Gladwyne, taking some roundabout route — with a lot more big hills — down to the Fayette street bridge in Conshohocken. We headed back in to Philly on the bike trail, which runs parallel to the Schuykill River all the way into Philly. It basically takes you through Manayunk, then through East Falls, which becomes Kelly Drive. Instead of heading back to the Art Museum, we crossed the Schuykill on the East Falls bridge, then headed towards Philly on West River Drive. We turned up towards Belmont Plateau by the Montgomery Drive exit of 76, then kinda went back through West Philly to the Main Line. By the time I was at 76, I was about ready to pass out. In all, it totaled 40-45 miles.
I don’t really want to even look at a bike right now, but I’m sure around mid-week I’ll want to go for another ride. Hopefully this ride will make future rides a bit easier because I was definitely punishing my legs out there.
Time to shower and go out to get some food, good luck to everyone in the Sunday tournaments today.
