Back at the Bellagio

We just got back to our room after spending the evening at Viffer’s house in Summerlin, about 20 minutes outside of Las Vegas. However, we mainly hung out with TheBusDriver and ElkY.

However, first I have a couple pics that I took earlier before going out to the house…

This is the view from our Bellagio hotel room… you can see the Rio pretty easily. We still haven’t been over there, but we’ll go soon.
Also, I very rarely post pictures of myself on the blog… not because I don’t want people to see pictures of me, but because I’m the one with the camera most of the time. So anyway, this is me sitting in our hotel room. Photo Credit: Ozzy.

Okay, back to the visit with TheBusDriver. He picked us up near the poker room outside the Bellagio in his SICKKKK Mercedes-Benz AMG E55. In case you don’t feel like clicking on that link, here is a quote:

The $76,200 E55, on the other hand, is the most potent production sedan on the planet. Among its parlor tricks: 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, quicker than a Ferrari 360 Modena, Corvette Z06 or Aston Martin Vanquish, according to Road & Track magazine. The E55 also blitzes a quarter-mile in 12.4 seconds, as fast as that purest of sports cars, the Porsche 911 Turbo. And although the AMG’s top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph, the true top speed is, by my calculations, more like 185 mph.

The basic idea is that it’s one of the fastest cars that you can buy from a dealership. And he definitely pushes it hard. Not only that, but he put a ton of sick options on the car — sick wheels, sick tires, an extra sunroof over the rear seat, etc. Anyway, it was awesome. I didn’t take any pictures of it though since you can find a ton of pictures of one online.

Then we just kinda hung out in Viffer’s house for awhile talking about all sorts of stuff. We also went out to get some food, but we really didn’t do much other than just talk. I got a picture of us sitting around, minus me of course.

ElkY, TheBusDriver, Ozzy

It was fun though, TheBusDriver and ElkY are both funny guys. Then we basically got a ride back and came up to the room.

Vegas Day Two, Ozzy on UB

I got up around 10 AM PST feeling a lot better than I did last night… I could barely keep my eyes open. We’ve just been hanging around the Bellagio today. After getting food (twice!), we’re back in the room now with ElkY…. Ozzy is playing Rounder9999 heads up 50/100 NL on UB. I took a few pictures.

Tonight we’re going to Viffer’s house to hang out with him, ElkY and TheBusDriver.

In Vegas!

I got into McCarren (sp?) airport today around 2 PM Vegas time, met up with Ozzy at baggage claim and then took a cab over to the Bellagio. We immediately went to eat at Noodles, a really good Asian place. After we got back to the room, I got in touch with H@££INGGOL on AIM and he invited us over to his room. So we went up to his room and hung out with him and bet2win (Rob) for a little while. Then they wanted to eat, so we all went to Bellagio cafe. I took a few pictures…

They weren’t ready for me to take the pic, so I think they all unsuccessfully tried to avoid being in the shot
One with flash…
One without…

Then we went over to the poker room for a few, put some names on some game lists, then went upstairs to their room again to play some online poker. I also got some pics of this…

H@££INGGOL playing online, bet2win to his left
Ozzy talking to bet2win about something…

Later on hazards21 (Matt) showed up to hang out. H@££INGGOL asked me to take a pic of 4 of the biggest online winners sitting around one computer contributing to his losing effort in the Stars 25/50 NL game. I think he ended up a bit on the day, but he wasn’t happy with his performance.

They’re all still in their room, but I came back to my/Ozzy’s room because I’m kinda exhausted. I’ve been up since 2 PM EST Sunday afternoon and now it’s 3:30 AM EST Tuesday morning. I don’t have the sharpest mind now, but I think that’s 37.5 hours. Luckily it’s only 12:30 AM Vegas time, so I’ll be on a good schedule when I wake up around 10 AM or so tomorrow.

A lot more pics to come in the next few weeks. Later.

Googling Myself

This is a fun activity that I partake in a few times a year.

Here’s what I just came up with:

1. A marketing paper that I wrote in my junior year. My professor was Jeff Pinegar and it’s up on his domain, so I guess he uses it as an example for a good paper. On a bragging note, I was the #1 ranked marketing student that semester among all the classes. He was the only teacher I ever had who ranked all the students and then told you where you fit in. Anyway, moving on…

2. SMIP @ F&M. The SMIP was the Student Managed Investment Portfolio. Basically, the school gave students a few hundred thousand of the endowment and let us manage it in the stock market. I look retarded in both pictures, but whatever, it happens. That pic was from the 2nd semester that I participate, this one is from the first. You were only allowed/supposed to do two semesters.

3. My guest-blog entry on ZeeJustin’s site. That was a fun trip.

4. My user profile on 2+2. Not too much going on there…

5. An interview I did on AnteUp radio last year. Look for the Nov 28th, 2005 show. You can also just download the audio by clicking here.

6. A trip report that I posted on RGP. I wrote this after spending the day in AC watching GambleAB at the WSOP Circuit Final Table. He got 5th for about $142K. I’d only barely started talking to him at the time, but I’d actually met up with him about a potential business idea only a few days before and I thought it would be a ton of fun to see the FT live. I sent live updates from my Blackberry to people on RGP so they could post updates to the newsgroup. This was before the days of live updates on various websites — I think we inspired them to start covering final tables. He was one of the first online poker players that I talked to regularly on AIM.

I found a few other random mentions on blogs and whatnot, but that’s about all that I found.
