Knee update

I posted a few entries back about how my knee wasn’t feeling so great. Well, it’s been over a week since my last run. I decided against running this week because my knee was REALLY hurting. It was to the point where it hurt regardless of what I was doing. And it hurt a lot whenever I was doing things like going down steps or turning corners.

Anyway, I bought some ibuprofen (first time I’ve ever bought any pain med) and a knee support thing to help out. I wore the knee thing 24/7 (except showers) for a few days. It was definitely a big help.

At this point, the pain is gone. A few days ago it started feeling better and now I don’t feel anything when I walk around, including up and down stairs. I’ve stopped wearing the knee support and I haven’t taken any ibuprofen in a few days. I’m going to do a test run of some kind sometime this week. Probably something very very short, like a quarter of a mile. Regardless of whether it hurts, I’ll stop and see how it feels the next day. If the results are good, I’ll do a half mile run a day or two later, etc. If everything feels good, I’ll get back to my routine of 1.5-2 mile runs when I go to the gym. But I want to take this recovery slow because that 5 day period with a badly hurting knee SUCKED and I don’t want to go through it again if I don’t have to.
