Nenad Medic is unbelievably good. I just watched the WPT event from earlier tonight and he just DOMINATED that Foxwoods final table.

I’m sure part of his dominance was due to factors such as editing and running well, but he was in really amazing control of that table.

It’s kinda rare to see that from someone not named Ivey or Antonius.

I think this (http://blogs.msdn.com/oldnewthing/archive/2006/08/14/699521.aspx or http://www.dailycupoftech.com/2007/03/11/mia-ram-in-32-bit-vista/ describes it) is the problem.

There are definitely 4 1GB sticks of RAM in my machine, so I doubt it’s hardware. Plus, when I boot the computer, the BIOS sees the full 4 GB. So it’s some dumb Windows limitation and if I override it by “enabling PAE” then I could run into all sorts of problems. It probably isn’t worth it.

Anyone been through this experience with Vista and RAM limitations?

It’s pretty cool actually. I don’t mind much about Vista once I customized it to my preferences. I’m only partially done moving stuff over — I basically just got bored and quit a few minutes ago, I’ll finish later.

One thing that is kinda weird is that it says it only has 3 GB of RAM whereas I ordered 4 GB. I am probably going to open up the case later and see if Dell really forgot to put one of the sticks in there.

That would be kinda bizarre.

On Wednesday, I went to down to the Wynn to watch the Suns/Spurs game with stevesbets and cf tourney. I have a small bet on the Spurs (well, I need them to win the whole thing, but that was a key game for the bet), so I was happy to see the Spurs rally at the end. Steve wasn’t so happy to see that happen. I guess he’s just a big Suns fan or something.

In the middle of the day yesterday, I drove down to Henderson for lunch with Mason Malmuth and Mat Sklansky. We basically just discussed Bluff, past problems, possible future relationships, etc. We also discussed 2+2′s impending move to vBulletin forum software. I’m excited to see it happen.

Then yesterday, Aaron Been won around $50K in the Mirage HU tourney (after chopping), so we went out for a celebratory dinner at a steakhouse. I didn’t know everyone there, but KUSH, Vivek/psyduck, Aaron, ajunglen, MrTimCaum and ike were all there. Unfortunately I was still kinda full from the lunch, so I barely ate. Afterwards we hung out for a bit at the Aaron+KUSH apt in Panorama Towers. That place is uber baller — waaaaaay more baller than my standard apartment.

Lastly, I am going to be flying to Houston in a week. Then I’ll hang out with Ozzy for a few days. Then we’ll drive to Las Vegas for the WSOP together in his sick car (M6). I plan on taking a bunch of pictures along the way, so there will be a trip report posted sometime in early June.

And that’s about it. Headed down to the Wynn now to hang out by the pool with Steve and Glove.

I’ve built my last few computers. I love the process of picking out parts, piecing it together a bit at a time, getting premium components, etc. But I just couldn’t turn down the lure of a Dell desktop value. I got the computer below for $1000 shipped — after the Dell coupon. IMO, it’s an incredible performance value.

Highlights include the Duo w/ 4MB L2 cache and 1066FSB along with the 4 GB of RAM.

Lowlight is mainly Windows Vista. If it’s as bad as people say, I might just put XP on it.
