Back from Ireland for a few days

I got back like 3 or 4 days ago and the jet lag is still screwing with me big time. I can’t sleep for more than about 5 hours at a time and I can’t sleep normal hours at all. Normally I’m a great sleeper who can lay down 8 to 10 hours sleeping sessions where I don’t wake up once and I can usually do it day after day. So this is kinda frustrating to be tired and constantly off-schedule. But today I slept from 3:15 AM until 8:00 AM, so I’m hoping that I’ll be tired tonight and I’ll be able to go to sleep in the midnight to 2:00 AM area and then I’ll sleep for a long time.

Anyway, enough bitching. I am taking pictures for BLUFF/worldseriesofpoker.com at the WSOP today and tomorrow. I’ll be around the Rio on and off all day, so stop me and say hi if you see me wandering around with my camera.

On Monday, my friend Eric Strauss (see blog link on the right) is flying out here to hang out for a few days. Then on Tuesday, my business partner Paul (we co-owned and co-founded thepokerdb together) is coming out for a few days. So I will be busy showing them around Las Vegas. Eric is a professional photographer, so I plan on taking him out on the floor of the WSOP so he can show BLUFF what he is capable of — it might land him a job down the line. He’s waaaaay better than me at photography — it isn’t even close. Also, Paul and I are working on a new project (my idea, but I need his help to get it done) so we are hopefully going to get a lot done this week.

So that’s it for the update, here are two more videos from Ireland. The last one is in my yet-to-be-posted blog archives.

First, I’ll test the maturity of my blog readers by posting this one. It’s three brothers who perform traditional Irish music and dance. We saw this on the Aran Islands. So it might look a little weird to us Americans, but the whole thing was kinda cool. They performed about 10 songs/dances.

Second, this is a video of an uber-talented puppeteer from the street in Galway. It’s kinda hard from the video to see how good this guy really is. People kept walking in front of me (obv) and I didn’t want to make the recording too obvious because then he’d obviously come over to me and I would have had to stop recording. I threw the guy four euros after he was done because I was so impressed. Sorry I couldn’t get better video of him, but hopefully you’ll be able to get a small taste of this guy’s talent.

Linking Policy

I will add anyone who has a link to my blog or thepokerdb on their blog or website. I’m taking down links to other blogs because it’s just easier to have a blanket policy with regards to things like this.

If you have a link to my blog or thepokerdb on your blog or website and I don’t have your link up, please leave a comment and I’ll add it.

New Blog Software

I’ve finally decided to make the switch to WordPress. Bear with me over the next day or two while I sort things out. This will look very different very soon (well, depending on when you are reading this entry).

I’ve saved all of my old blog entries/pictures/etc and I will eventually either import them into WordPress or post a link to an archive of them.

File this form ASAP (NOT a tax form)

If you are a US citizen and had over 10K in NETELLER at any point in 2006, you NEED to file this form: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f90221.pdf.

You have until June 30th to do so, but I would recommend getting it mailed out by Monday at the latest.

The cost of filing is the cost of a stamp and envelope whereas the penalties for not filing are something like 250K fine and up to five years in jail. And remember that the US Gov’t has received full cooperation from NETELLER since the arrests, so you’re a complete moron if you don’t file this form and you somehow think no one will notice.

Back from my break

I arrived in Vegas about 24 hours ago. I’m ridiculously jet lagged, even though I’m usually not affected by time changes too much. I slept tonight from 12 midnight to 5:15 AM … and now I can’t go back to sleep so I’m writing a blog entry. Sorry about the lack of updates but the internets on the west coast of Ireland were not exactly good. In face they were bad. Anyway…

The various trips were pretty fun. Ireland was kinda rainy and whatnot — and since we were on a bike tour, that kinda put a damper on things. We did have a few nice days, but it tended to rain on the days when we were biking more. I took a bunch of pictures and video. I’m still in the process of organizing a bunch of them, but here are a few…

First, here is a video of two people from the bike tour group rescuing a pair of glasses that slipped over the edge. Remember that this is a 300 foot cliff that drops straight down into the ocean.

I have more videos that I’ll be posting later on most likely…

This is a self-taken picture of me on the road with my bike — this is pretty representative of what we were staring at most days.

Across the street from our hotel in Galway they had nightly poker tournaments! Unfortunately I had to get up at the butt crack of dawn every day so I couldn’t try it out. Also, nice hours obv.

Here I am on one of the big walking/shopping streets in downtown Galway.

This is me on the same set of cliffs that the video was taken on. It was a sickkkkkkkkk view.

For now, I’ll leave you with an image of what I saw a ton of… Cows.

I’ll be back with more later. Congrats to everyone who did well at the WSOP while I was gone — ZeeJustin and mig.com immediately come to mind. I’m sure I’m forgetting a bunch more though.
