Interesting post from Brad “Otis” Willis

This is an interesting read. He says a lot of things about the young players in the online poker (and live to a certain extent) world and what impact they’ll have on the future of poker. Some of it is kinda scary. Some is depressing. But it’s pretty truthful in a bunch of respects, so it’s worth a read.

Also, I’m honored to be mentioned by name as one of the good guys. It’s always nice to know that the people I respect also have respect for my work.

EDIT:

I received the following comment: “I can’t believe a little flattery was all it took to sell you on that drivel. :(

It actually didn’t have anything to do with it. Granted I was linked to the page because someone saw my name in it, but that isn’t why I think it’s partially true. Here’s the thing… I don’t really subscribe to the whole TL;DR stuff. Assholes on forums are nothing new and there’s nothing to indicate to me that it’s really a problem. Even just the whole culture of asshole/know-it-all youth isn’t really a huge deal because people are always like that and there’s nothing that can be done about it. I’m talking about a select group of people who are successful or have achieved success at some point in the last few years in the poker world. Some people are smart, some people are going down the tubes. I subscribe to the idea that the higher you climb, the harder you fall. Some of the wealth spread around among some people is doing way too much harm to their lives. And in turn, some of the things that are bound to happen as time goes on could really hurt the poker world. I’m not going to spell out what I think will happen or who it will happen to, but I think it should be obvious (no, I’m not talking about Ozzy). Anyway, I also worry about a bunch of people in those groups and on that level I agree with Brad’s blog post.

Post

Hitler

This blog post isn’t nearly as serious in tone as the title might suggest. I found this video to be pretty funny, but it’s really only funny if you can see the humor in making fun of Hitler AND you know a little about online poker. If you don’t fit both of those, it probably isn’t worth watching.

Enjoy.

Post

this cracked me up

So I have this friend in Atlanta named Neal who’s what you might call a deal hunter. He’s constantly on various forums and websites looking for sick markdowns in various electronics and he told me about this site called “Woot” that puts up one product a day at 1 AM EST every day. So it isn’t really an online shop in the normal sense. One product a day, it’s different every day and it’s usually a pretty good deal on whatever is being offered.

So I’m reading the Wikipedia article on Woot and I see this:

“On every weekday, at the same time as products are announced, Woot.com also publishes a podcast. This podcast briefly describes the item up for sale, and features an often-humorous song or skit relating to the product up for sale.”

Alright, so these guys are goofy. I continue reading…

“Bluetooth the Pirate

Whenever a product related to the Bluetooth wireless technology is sold (Bluetooth USB adapters, cell phone headsets, etc.), a special song is featured. Sung by the crew of a pirate ship, this song tells the tale of “Bluetooth, the most fearsome pirate on the Seven Seas” and his many nefarious deeds. During the middle part of these songs, a lone voice of dissent among the crew speaks out, complaining that Bluetooth is a technology, and has nothing to do with pirates. The Captain always comes back with a smart rebuke.”

LOLOLOLOL. That had me laughing for a few minutes. These guys are huge computer nerds, even more so than me (that’s hard to do).

That being said, I look forward to buying a lot of crap from their site that I’ll probably never use, but I bought because it seemed like a cool gadget at the time.

EDIT: I just realized what this reminds me of… “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” (hilarious if you somehow haven’t seen it). The guy chiming in saying it’s a technology is very “Monty Python”-esque.

new title

A lot of people ask me what I do at Bluff. Or what I even do in Atlanta. I don’t really have an answer. So, with the help of Ms. -AG- from P5s, I came up with a title.

“Chief of SSA Operations — Southeast Sector”

GL figuring out what SSA is.

Now I just need business cards.

Thanks again -AG-.

this made me lol (actual lol)

Credit to 2+2er RiverFenix for posting this. Not sure of the name of the 2+2er who made it, I’m guessing “spoonce”.
