thepokerfilm and WCOOP

So, I made a new website for thepokerfilm. It should be much better for what we’re trying to accomplish. Plus I’ll be adding things like a comment form and other stuff to the site. In addition, I made a banner spot for the CardRunners banner (and for the other ones that should be up this week).

I’ve seen a few rough cuts of full clips of TPF: Team Domeski and I think people are going to really enjoy the film. There’s a lot of entertaining stuff. I expect that we’ll release one or two clips within the next week.

Also, today is the biggest online poker tournament of the year, the WCOOP Main Event. Good luck to everyone left in it. As of this blog, some of the well-known chip leaders are NoraFlum, 10Gunman, aaaaaaaa, BigRiskky and DaMadPotter. Good luck to all of them and I hope they’re well-rested because this thing is going to go until sometime Monday afternoon.

Unfortunately, gambler2k4 will not be winning the WCOOP Main Event, as per this recent AIM chat:

(1:01:28 AM) gambler2k4: fuck the donkaments
(1:01:33 AM) gambler2k4: i busto’d 4 before the money
(1:01:41 AM) gambler2k4: flopped set of 22 on 25Q board vs KK
(1:01:56 AM) GIFAFI: did you win the hand
(1:02:18 AM) gambler2k4: fuck you

thepokerfilm update

Things are going well. Lots of people seem to like the trailer and they think it has a lot of potential.

The film is being discussed in a lot of different spots:

1. 2+2: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Number=12214457
2. P5s: http://www.pocketfives.com/F01744A0-B8D4-469A-B41D-34A1EF1AC61C.aspx
3. PokerPT: http://pokerpt.com/forum/vidas-vt8011.html (not that I can understand that)
4. Busted N’ Broke: http://bustednbroke.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3706
5. pokerclub.be: http://www.pokerclub.be/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6171

We’ve gotten around 1500 clicks from 2+2 and around 900 from P5s, so I’m really appreciative that the mods/admins on those sites let the threads stay up. Not that I posted them or asked anyone to post about them (Clayton did it and I didn’t ask him to), but it’s still nice of them.

Also, we’ve reached an agreement in principle with CardRunners in which they will sponsor a few of the clips and will also get some banner ads on the site. They are getting some of the “viral” type of content so I think they’re going to be really happy with the exposure that they’re getting out of the agreement.

The first clip that we plan on releasing deals with the drinking bet for which stealthmunk flew down from CT to Athens. I don’t know exactly when to expect it, but I would hope for next week. While Eric is working on the clip, I am working on the website. Expect a bunch of big changes on thepokerfilm before the next clip release. I want things like the ability to leave comments, a better system for viewing pictures and a few other things. I’m editing a test version of the new site now and it’s shaping up to be pretty cool.

The ads for CR should be up as soon as I put up the new site.

Also, I expect to close another deal for more advertisements in the near future, it’s just a matter of who we end up going with for the other clips and banners.

Greg ‘FossilMan’ Raymer

He won the $320R PLO WCOOP event a little over a week ago. Great accomplishment, good player, etc, etc. Nothing huge to report or anything that would warrant a blog entry.

But he put the whole HH of the event online. You can find it here: http://www.fossilmanpoker.com/news/wcoop_p2_hands.txt

This seems like a pretty cool learning tool and a neat way to get inside the head of a very good player. Enjoy! (and thanks to Greg for doing this for the community, it’s a very nice gesture)

thepokerfilm

So, this documentary thing that I’ve been talking about… we finally have a title. thepokerfilm. Original? No. Does it work? Sure. Good enough. This thing isn’t about the title anyway, so moving on…

We have the trailer done. The webpage is partially complete.

You can view the trailer here:

There is also a higher quality version online at our website here: http://www.thepokerfilm.com/video.php.

We’re going to finish building out the website, secure some ads (hopefully, we haven’t really tried to sell anything yet) and work on editing the full thing. The current plan is to release it in clips, maybe something like six or seven 5 minute clips. There’s tons of good stuff in our footage, so you’ll want to see this stuff!

Spread the word.

Major Online Poker Room Caught Cheating.

“Absolute Poker, one of the major online poker rooms, has been caught cheating. Allowing some players the ability to see other people’s cards. So far Absolute Poker is yet to issue any kind of formal statement and is just denying the issue.”

Funny pic + Sweetwater

Okay, so…

My friend Neal is driving around when he sees something weird. This picture might not look all that odd at first glance:

But wait! Look closely if you missed it the first time. What the hell is that under the car?

photo11.jpg

Balls? Yes, I think so. Kinda weird, but true. The car has balls.

Moving on…

This afternoon, a ton of us went to this place called Sweetwater Brewery. While it’s technically a “brewery tour” that’s being sold, what they give you is a nice glass and six tickets for half-beers. Price? $8. It’s a great deal and you get to try out six of their beers. It runs from like 5:30 to 8ish on Wed, Thurs and Friday. Oh, and you get to keep the glass. I had a fun time and I recommend it to anyone in the Atlanta area. I’m sure you can find more about it on google.

Here I am at the brewery:

In other news, the documentary is coming along great. I love the latest version of the trailer and I think we’ll be releasing that this weekend.
