Congrats sub

I’m back in Costa Rica after a really long travel day on Friday. To answer ChieftanMew’s comment question from the previous post, I stayed at a hotel called the Sutton Place right in downtown Vancouver. It was a very nice place and if I could ever visit Vancouver at a time when it wouldn’t be drizzling all-day everyday, I would definitely be eager to do so.

Anyway, moving on… While I was on my trip, my good friend Jeff “yellowsub86″ Williams got 2nd in the 1K rebuy (aka Degen Event) at the WSOP for a bit over $400K. Here’s a picture of him at the FT, courtesy of PokerNews:

Being the mind reader that I am, I am pretty sure that sub is thinking about Cane’s in this picture. Nevertheless, he managed to get HU and he took home a pretty sick amount of $, so that’s awesome. I wish I could have been there for the FT and the party afterwards.

In other news, I didn’t even consider watching UFC 85. Talk about a boring card. I know it isn’t the UFC’s fault because people were dropping out right and left, but still, it was truly terrible. Especially coming on the heels of UFC 84 (great card) and the WEC event on June 1st (featured two title fights and a bunch of other good fights), UFC 85 was just a huge letdown. Whatever though, I can give the UFC a pass every once in awhile. UFC 86 looks like it will be a good card, so I’ll definitely be watching that. I also still have to watch the EliteXC event that aired on CBS a week ago. I’m not too excited about it, but I’m curious to see how a major news network portrayed MMA to a mainstream audience.

Continued good luck to everyone at the WSOP. I’m virtually certain that I won’t be able to make it to Las Vegas this summer, so unfortunately I won’t be able to meet up with everyone. :( Next year for sure.

damn u def. just made me go get canes.

the EliteXC event was terrible. the commentators will make you sick, all the fights were stopped too early, and kimbo is indeed a joke. i had been supporting him after learning that bas ruten had been training him, but he looked aweful in this fight. completely helpless on the ground.

i taped ufc85, i’ll watch tonight probably, and i agree ufc84 was a great card. all the fights were soo sick. some of the best fights i’ve seen in awhile.

I was at a reception in Houston on Thursday for the Ernst & Young Entreprenuer of the Year awards and Todd Graves from Raising Cane’s was there as he is one of the finalists. He was by far the most sought after person there as everyone love’s his food…sfgood!

Do you think that this will be the year of the internet pro? A lot of the online pros have been tearing up the real tables and so far they’ve won a ton of money and proved they can make the transistion to the live environment.

Dude, I live right across the street from the Sutton Place, right above the Scotiabank movie theatre. No joke.

In the summer the weather is usually not too bad. But it’s Van so anything can happen..

Dude you gotta watch Dream 4. Sat/Sun Jun 14/15. HDNet sometime like 3am or so. Dream 3 was one of the best mma events so far this year.
