Blog Redesign

I know there are always a ton of designers out there, so I might as well put this message out publicly…

I’m going to switch my WordPress theme pretty soon.  I’ve been using this one for awhile and I’d like to revamp a number of parts of my blog.  I’m going to have a lot more static pages (similar to the “about me” and “thepokerdb” ones above) with commentary on things like poker SEO, other websites, TV that I watch, hobbies, website strategy articles, etc.  So I’m going to keep making normal blog posts, but I’ll mix it in with article-type pages.  I also plan on giving people the opportunity to write guest posts and guest pages assuming that the topic is interesting and people would enjoy reading the post.

So… on to the search for the actual theme.  I’m leaning towards a pretty heavily modified version of this theme.  I like a lot of aspects of it, but I would change it to make it more readable.  I want to focus on good typography and good contrast for easy readability — see the Thesis theme for a good example of that.  So, basically, I’m looking for a three column theme with the content column on the left and a split sidebar column on the right, potentially with it being a partially merged/partially split sidebar.  I also want a good text menu across the top for the new pages that I am going to be adding to the site.  And, of course, the blog has to have good SEO — div-based layout, good header tags, etc.

So is anyone out there a really good web designer?  I’m willing to pay, although I don’t think more than a few hundred dollars.  And I’m very picky… I dislike 95%+ of the themes in the WordPress Theme directory.  But then again, I know exactly what I want, so I’m probably not that difficult to work with.  Let me know in the comments if you’d like to work together on a new theme for this blog.

If your going for a theme I would go with any of the Brian Gardner themes I would leave a link but I dont want this to count as spam…so just google revolution themes or Brian Gardner. He is the best wp designer I have seen. Has amazing code whereas many of the others are filled with tables and bloated his is not and is strictly css and loads fast. There are a number of them out there, and all customizable or if you have a designer than can do edits. Another one that is pretty good although not sure if you would like the colours is the Omni Theme…again customizable and the designer involved was Brian…and no I am not an affiliate for him…I just really like what he is doing in terms of coding and layouts….good luck :)
