I read digg.com a fair amount. I saw this story a few minutes ago: http://digg.com/general_sciences/Will_Time_Travel_Prove_to_be_Impossible. It links to this article: http://www.dailygalaxy.com/my_weblog/2009/02/time-travel–wi.html.
My first thought when I read it was that backwards time travel to the time period of your choosing is obviously not possible because no one has time traveled back to now. I noticed a few minutes later that a commenter agrees with me. I’d never really thought about it before — I guess I’d always assumed that it might be possible but it was just out of the realm of our comprehension. It’s a little sad and defeating to know that my chances of meeting Jesus, Caesar, Lincoln, Hitler (swift kick to the nuts), Jefferson, Galileo and Elvis have gone from what I used to perceive as a non-zero chance to a truly zero chance. Oh well.
In other news, I’ve officially gotten rid of my pool table here in Costa Rica, so that’s a big first step towards moving out. I am moving a bunch more stuff out this week and then I have a small crew coming through to do little repairs and fixes before putting my place on the market.
There are a few explanations of why time tourists don’t exist here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_travel#Tourism_in_time.
I find Hawking’s explanation more feasible than Sagan’s, but then again, I don’t understand how spacetime can be warped.
I DONT COME TO THIS BLOG TO HAVE MY HOPES AND DREAMS CRUSHED

How do you explain Lost then – especially the last few episodes?
I think that Lost was sent back in time from the future. But it’s because only TV programs can be sent through time, not people or other tangible objects.
