Moving, Work, Jailbait, etc

First, jailbait.  There doesn’t seem to be a consensus opinion out there for what I should do with the jailbait post.  I haven’t made up my mind yet, but when I decide what to do, I will make a post here with an update.

In other news, my business partners have started our moving process to the Cayman Islands.  In total, three of my business partners, one wife and myself are moving.  One business partner is in New Jersey at his house, another one and his wife flew to California today and another one is flying out on Tuesday.  I believe they’re all flying into Grand Cayman on Wednesday and I think they all went home just for the purpose of moving belongings around and whatnot.  I don’t fly out of Costa Rica until mid-March, so I’ll be the last one moving.

Due to the move, a bunch of us went out to dinner last night at this awesome place called “Le Monastere” which is way up in the hills overlooking Escazu.  It has an INCREDIBLE view.  We got a bunch of pics, but I don’t have them yet.  I should be able to get them tomorrow and edit this post.  Here’s a link to the place — you can see some of the view in the crappy pics they have on their website: http://www.monastere-restaurant.com.  I think it actually used to be working monastery.  I know for sure there’s still a working chapel in the building.  But the food there is really amazing.  It’s probably my favorite restaurant in Costa Rica.

In addition to the dinner on Saturday night, we had a party on Friday night with all of our employees at a local sports bar-style place called Henry’s.  As you might imagine, free food and drinks for a few hours led to quite a few drunk people, but that’s cool.  I had fun and I think our employees really enjoy when we do stuff like that for them, so it’s definitely worth it.

In terms of work stuff, we’re about to launch the domain rakeback.net as a rakeback site.  There isn’t really anything there yet, but there will be pretty soon.  I’d like to turn it into a pretty big force in the rakeback world and the domain definitely helps a lot.  It makes it much easier to market and promote a site when it has a recognizable and easy-to-remember domain name.  I’d like to see it go up this week although it’s hard to predict if that will actually be possible.  We’re still missing one pretty major piece of the puzzle that we need in order to launch.

In other work news, you’ll notice that the PSO ad I used to have on my blog homepage is gone (although I suspect many of you are using feed readers and you simple never noticed that it was there).  That isn’t because I don’t think PSO is a good company — it’s just that the deal expired.  I’m not sure if we’re going to renew that, so I pulled it down for now pending some discussions with the other guys in the company.

I guess my last bit of news is that my parents are supposed to come down to Costa Rica this week and we’re supposed to go out to the beach this weekend.  We’re going to the place that I went to with sub and his girlfriend (see this).  It’s a great beach area called Manuel Antonio and I’m really excited to go out there.  It will be my last time out there while still living in Costa Rica and I will definitely miss having it relatively closeby.  I still plan on visiting it whenever I come back to Costa Rica, but not having it right there will be a little bit of a letdown (especially because I own part of a place out there).  I guess having Seven Mile Beach (a REALLY nice beach in Cayman) will make up for it though.  There is a chance that an illness in the family could impact the ability of my parents to visit — my grandfather has been quite sick for a few months now and doctors are not optimistic about his long-term outlook.  However, as excited as I am about the trip, I would obviously put a major family illness over a short trip for pleasure purposes.  We’ll have to see how he’s doing midweek and my parents will make their decision based on that.

Anyway, I guess that’s it for now, have a good week.

Wow, that brings back memories. PokerStars’ very first staff Christmas dinner (2002) was at Le Monastere.

Why not make jailbreak about jailbreaking an iPhone…you avoid any association to porn industry and still probably address some people’s queries.
