AA331
This accident at the end of the Miami to Kingston flight is a bit scary because it’s so similar to my normal flight. Originating in Miami, on American Airlines, short flight to the Caribbean, on a Boeing 737-800, etc. Add that to the rough weather I’ve experienced on a bunch of flights from Miami to Grand Cayman, the runway ending with water and it’s almost an identical situation. We’ve landed in bad weather in Cayman many times.
I’m often amazed by the safety record of commercial aviation. It really is stunning that these machines and the pilots operating them can fly millions people through all sorts of elements all over the world for years on end and have so few incidents. Even though the one in Kingston didn’t result in any deaths it’s still scary when it hits so close to home.
