I doubt the airlines are in favor of anything that makes it more annoying to fly but maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way.

I know it's not really the plan, but it seems that a lot of the airlines are charging for bags and this is a great way to force you to check them. A sudden windfall for the coffers.

We need to learn from the Israelis. Just by asking a few carefully chosen questions they've been able to tell who poses a threat and who doesn't. Some people may scoff at this subjective analysis but you can't argue with the results.

Funny... I was just reading an article about this thinking the exact same thing. The "logic" that people use is amazing, especially in these "crisis" events. They are now advising people to not carry on any luggage, as it could lead to long delays for passengers to get through security.

So after one minor incident, they have decided that the directives they set up over the last 8 years are now not enough? I guess it's time to hire thousands more TSA employees and not let anyone carry on any luggage at all. That'll fix it!
