I'm guessing a bazillion years of evolution here forgot to tell the fish how to escape frozen water which generations of the pescine folks have never encountered.
Meanwhile, my Russian mountain dog has been spending hours outdoors resting happily in the shade. - JDW

ohio has tons of catfish and they all survive winters because they go deep enough into the water and stay warm. the florida fish must've not been smart enough to figure that out.

No word on gators. But here's a note from this morning's paper. Headline: "Chill's fish kill floats to the top. Fishing charters say it's no use going out. The dead litter the state's waterways....Thousands of catfish and mullet littered the Little Manatee River... and black and silver mullet, ladyfish, jack, spades and sea turtles were seen dead in Clearwater."
The good news is we might have fewer bugs come springtime. Temperatures warming as of Wednesday.
Seems kinda small now compared to Haiti's travails. - JDW
